When Standard Equipment Isn’t Enough
In the beverage and food industries, not every product fits into a standard container.Honey is one of them.
A client in the U.S. Northeast reached out to us with a very specific challenge: they needed 1/6 BBL stainless steel kegs for honey, but standard beer kegs in the U.S. market are almost always equipped with D-type spear connections — which did not meet their application requirements
Finding a ready-made solution locally proved impossible.
Understanding the Real Need
In early December 2025, the client contacted us through our website.
Their initial plan was to purchase standard D-type kegs and then modify them locally into 2” tri-clamp (TC) connection kegs.
While this approach could work in theory, it introduces several risks:
- Additional modification cost
- Potential sanitation issues
- Structural uncertainty after rework
- Longer overall lead time
After discussing their actual use case in detail, we proposed a better solution: custom-manufactured kegs built correctly from the start.
A Purpose-Built Design — No Secondary Modification
Instead of asking the customer to retrofit standard kegs, our engineering team created custom design drawings tailored specifically to their needs:
- 1/6 BBL stainless steel keg format
- 2” TC ferrule interface instead of a beer spear
- Optimized structure for honey filling, storage, and handling
Once the design was confirmed, production was arranged immediately.
Fast Custom Manufacturing
From design approval to finished product, the custom kegs were completed in just half a month.
This timeline reflects our strength as a manufacturer:
- In-house engineering coordination
- Flexible non-standard production
- No reliance on off-the-shelf compromises
Each keg was fabricated, inspected, and prepared specifically for the customer’s application — not adapted afterward.
Smart Logistics for Delivery
Shipping custom stainless equipment internationally requires planning.
To balance cost, speed, and reliability, we arranged a combined sea freight + courier solution. Within approximately one month, the custom kegs were successfully delivered to the customer in Vermont, USA.
The Result: A Solution That Simply Works
Upon receipt, the customer expressed strong satisfaction with:
- The build quality
- The custom design accuracy
- The overall coordination from concept to delivery
This project highlights what Redwood Stainless does best:
- Non-standard customization
- Fast response
- End-to-end manufacturing and logistics coordination
